There are all kinds of holidays in Honduras that we don't celebrate in the States. Yesterday was Day of the Bible, a national holiday started in 1982. All over Honduras there were parades and festivities. Naturally, our campus participated in the parade here in Catacamas. After the parade, there was a church service in the park. I'll post some pictures on my flickr account eventually...

This past weekend we had "special services" at the church. This meant church on Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night for about 2 hours each. It was ok. I was so sleepy, though. I couldn't even begin to tell you what the messages were about. The boys got into them, though, so that was good.

One of the missionaries here told me that you are not officially a missionary until you have at least 3 projects hanging over your head. I'm not exactly sure how many I have, but I have been super busy, so forgive me if I haven't been very good at keeping in touch!

I am in school with the missionary kids from 7:20 until 3:00 every day. From 3:00 until 4:40, I am teaching an ESL class. When I have time, I try to help Carol in the kitchen. She does all the cooking for the work teams that come down. I showed her how to make snickerdoodle cookies yesterday... might have been a mistake. I got recruited to make about 25 dozen cookies for a party for the boys in October. The pastor of the church asked me to play the piano for graduation. I tried to tell him how very LITTLE I know how to play, but he's already hooked me up with a keyboard so I can start practicing. Unfortunately, I don't have the music yet. I'm also working on translating a stack of letters from the boys to their sponsors in the States. And, I've been doing alot of computer data entry and working on spreadsheets for another neighbor. My Sunday school class is doing a presentation on Wednesday night, so we've been working on that. Not to mention the normal daily and weekly activities we have here at the school.....

Anyway, to be honest, I don't mind it. I thought I would get really bored here in the middle of nowhere for weeks on end, but I don't really have time to get bored! When I have down time, there's always kids coming over to my apartment, so I try to keep kool-aid and cookies handy. They go really fast.....

Still open for suggestions on the ESL class......... :o)

Hope you all had a great weekend!
